Re: Can't get WiDi on Windows 8.1

I have been following this issue for the last couple of months, waiting for a solution. "Joe at Intel", is someone from INTEL "actually" working with MICROSOFT on this??

I have a LENOVO U410, that I bought with Windows 8 on it and I upgraded to Windows 8.1. Like many posters with the same issue, I was only able to connect the WIDI to my Netgear 3000v box using the CHARMS method only once. After that one and only first time, the option "Add wireless display" went "missing in action" (like many people with various computers). Before you ask: YES, I have updated all the display, wifi drivers with the latest. I have tried disabling any and all virtual network drivers in Device Manager, then re-enabling and reinstalling latest display and wifi drivers, and STILL no option to "add wireless display". Like many posters I could see my NETGEAR device listed under my general devices (not as a Projector or display). And I could not connect to it in any way. The closest I could get to connecting was to click "Add Device" under Printers and Devices and it would see my NETGEAR and it would give me the option to enter the pass code I would see on the tv, but it would never connect at my end...(only list it as a greyed out device in the devices list...

I recently checked LENOVO's website and they actually have a page recommending that LENOVO U410 owners do NOT UPGRADE to Windows 8.1. This is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard... What good is buying a LENOVO product with intel hardware that you can't upgrade to a "0.1" version?

Based on the molasses speed at which this problem is being resolved, it would seem that the only viable option would be to downgrade back TO WINDOWS 8 by using the restore function on my ultrabook, thereby losing all my newly installed software .. I would rather keep looking forward and wait for that final INTEL/MICROSOFT  update that would "solve-it-all", but I am losing hope.. Can you give me ANY reassurance and expected time frame  of when this will be resolved?
