Re: Widi & Windows 8.1 problems

Hooray!!  After hours of work I finally got widi to work with Adamm's help.  I tried all the above ideas with my new ASUS I5 Haswell and Windows 8.1.  My solution was to download the 4.1.19.0 driver and install it.  Wasn't that simple. The install adds a widi icon on the desktop.  When run it said I didn't have the correct version of windows. I selected, run anyway.  The widi window came up but couldn't find my PTV2000 on the scan.  On general settings there is a button for scan for legacy systems.  I did that and it found the PTV2000 but when I tried to connect it, it said my firmware needed updating and gave a link to update it.  Now here is the rub.  I have a Win 7 Toshiba with 2nd gen I3 that links fine and the widi window said drivers where up to date.  Noooottt   So first thing that needs to be done is to insure your widi receiver has the latest drivers.  When I updated the driver it still couldn't find the PTV2000.  I had left find legacy systems checked.   When I unchecked it, walla, the scan found the PTV2000 and connected.  Super.   Picture and sound are great.  Not sure if 1080 but looks good.

I had a difficult time finding a 4.1.19.0 driver site without including crapware like Softpedia does.  It doesn't seem to be available on the Intel site.  Finally got it off a Dell site.  Even though it is for Inspiron laptop it works just fine, as it is the same widi hardware.    Good luck!!
