Hi joe_intel,

Thanks for answering my question and sorry for my late reply.

I've tried to use your information to answer my question (is it safe to use Notebook FanControl?  or put otherwise, is it safe for the chip to reach 65-70° on a regular basis?) but I'm stil not sure I really get it.

What exactly should I be looking on the Datasheet?  I suppose this is the most relevant section:

To allow for the optimal operation and long-term reliability of Intel processor-based systems, the system/processor thermal solution should be designed so that the processor:

- Remains below the maximum junction temperature (Tj,Max) specification at the maximum thermal design power (TDP).

However, I'm still at a loss to determine what is considered a safe CPU temperature for my Ultrabook.

I've recently also started encoding videos and temperature reaches 90° with fans at full speed for as long as the video is encoding - if this is considered safe behaviour, I think it should be no problem running the laptop at 65°.  Or is it considered best practice to always have the fans running as much as possible to keep CPU temperatures as low as possible?

I look forward to your expertise.

Many thanks,

Marc
